The full verdict on the overruled writ petition filed before the Court of Appeal by Prof. Chandragupta Thenuwara and journalist Gamini Viyangoda challenging Gotabya Rajapaksa's dual citizenship was to be declared on Monday (07).

However, the full declaration has not been taken place, reports said!

The writ challenging Gotabaya Rajapaksa's citizenship was overruled on last Friday (04) at 6 pm, with Court of Appeal Chairman Yasantha Kodagoda announcing that the petition will be rejected and the reasoning would be made on Monday (07) given the run-out time.

Although the Court of Appeal of urge declared the verdict releasing Gotabaya Rajapaksa of allegations leveled against him in order to paving the way for him to tender nominations on the 07th, the Bench has still not been able to demonstrate reasoning for the verdict.

This is going to be challenged again in the Supreme Court, as the issue of the executive power of the President, which emerged at this petition hearing as well, will have a decisive impact on the future, and electing a leader who does not give into law and order at all would affect the future of the country.

However, the petitioners cannot appeal before the Supreme Court until the Court of Appeal declares the full verdict.

In the wake of reports that the Bench was also pressurized before the verdict was issued, it is problematic that the full verdict of the petition was delayed, and there is a reasonable doubt whether there is a conspiracy behind the entire procedure, sources in the legal field said.
