A discussion between Leader of United National Party (UNP) Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) was held at Temple Trees today (17).
TNA Spokesman M.A. Sumanthiran said both parties exchanged views on the forthcoming presidential election.
Sumanthiran said the TNA has informed the Prime Minister that they will aid support to the candidate who would abolish the executive presidency and solve the national crisis. The MP also said that the Prime Minister has informed him that he is working on a constitution that would abolish the executive presidency.
Since the nomination of the UNP presidential candidate has not been finalized, a final decision will be taken as to whether the nominee will be consulted after nominating him, Sumanthiran further said.
