Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said it would be appropriate if a candidate from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) was nominated for the presidential election.
The former president made these comments in response to media following a function held in Gampaha today (12).
The number of party votes should be preserved, she emphasized.
Mrs. Kumaratunga said that although it is not possible to win at this time, a candidate who can win at the next time should be presented.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the party is acting according to his own accord, she added.
The one who had worked towards defeating the Pohottu party is now attempting to hook back into it because of his lust for power, she further added.
