Ranil - Sajith bilateral talks barred for advocates

10 September 2019 05:23 pm

A meeting between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Minister Sajith Premadasa is scheduled to be held at Temple Trees today (10th) at 06.00 pm, reports said.

The meeting will be conducted in the fashion of bilateral talks, in which only Ranil Wickremesinghe and Sajith Premadasa will participate in the meeting, according to reports.

Since the Prime Minister alone will be participating in the meeting, he has asked Premadasa to participate alone.
The meeting between the Prime Minister and Premadasa was intended to be held in last Sunday, however, was postponed by the members of the Sajith Faction in the UNP.

Wickremesingheat a meeting of party seniors held on Friday (06) had announced that he would contest the Presidential election as a solution to the current presidential candidate crisis in the party.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister is to announce the decision at this meeting with Sajith Premadasa, according to reports.

Nonetheless, given the bilateral nature to the talks about to be held between Wickremesinghe and Premadasa today, it may be presumable how the UNP Leader responds amid the attitude of Premadasa.

Malik Samarawickrema, a close associate of the Prime Minister, has made a concerted effort to organize the meeting to secure the presidential candidacy Premadasa, reports further claimed.

Meanwhile, UNP sources said that at the end of the day, it will be only a matter of how Ranil Wickremesinghe plays the flute.
