At least 29 people have been killed in two separate terrorist attacks on a food convoy and a transport truck in the northern region of Burkina Faso, West Africa, State media reported on Sunday (08).

14 civilians were killed in the attack on the food convoy and the explosives attack on the transport truck at Sanmatenga province killed 15 people with six injured.

The unfortunate incident further magnifies the security situation in Burkina Faso, and the military and security forces have been deployed to tighten the security in the area, State said.

After a period of relative peace in Burkina in Sahel, the eco-climatic and bio-geographic region of West Africa, the country suffered a domestic upheaval over the past three years, which has been exacerbated by the spread of jihad violence and criminality from its chaotic neighbors, Mali.

The most recent terrorist violence in the fight against Islamic extremism in West Africa was reported last August. At least 24 soldiers were shot dead by Islamic extremist gunmen.
