Investigators linking to cases of Lasantha, Thajudeen, Ekneligoda transferred

Attorney General Dappula Livera has ordered acting Inspector General of Police Chandana Wickramaratne for immediate transfer of investigators of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) attached to investigations on murder of Lasantha Wickramatunge, Wasim Thajudeen and disappearance of Prageeth Ekneligoda, sources said.

The AG has instructed for their immediate transfer pointing out that their service has been useless upon being unable to solve these cases, sources further claimed.

An Executive Attorney General?

The AG is of no authority to issue orders for transferring officers. He only can instruct with legal expertise accounting to investigations. However, reaching beyond limits, AG Livera has become an Executive Attorney General.

The three investigations were barred by the denial to provide information by the Navy and the Army, we disclosed on many occasions. Each case is involved with personnel from the forces, upon which a strong political fist is standing between the cases and the investigations.

It is the AG's intention to release all those who are involved from the Rajapaksa family. Therefore, the current officers into the investigations, who are not bending to the will of the AG, have been transferred.

Dappula Livera, prior to being appointed as the AG, was a deputy solicitor general involved in the bond scam investigations. There he had been accused of acting on the same manner barring investigators from continuing the case, displaying loyalty to President Maithripala Sirisena. Reports then claimed he was appointed in the position of AG as reward.

Apparently, Livera now is acting in a manner favouring Gotabaya Rajapaksa, upon which he has proclaimed himself to be an Executive Attorney General.

If the President does not stand cautious upon the AG's attitude, one of the days he probably will infiltrate the presidential powers as well.
