Gota pays homage to his hometown temple and people

Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa this morning (17) visited Medamulana Pallemulana Sri Dharma Giri Giruwa Sanda temple in his hometown. 

Upon visit to his hometown's temple, Mr. Rajapaksa visited the temple's chief incumbent Deputy Pirivenadhipathi of Dhammathilake Pirivena Venerable Sapugasyaye Dhammananda Thero. 

Obtaining religious sermons, Mr. Rajapaksa arrived in his Medamulana home, his birthplace. Citizens of Medamulana warmly welcomed him.

Rajapaksa later visited the monument of his parents, and made a public speech addressing the supporters. 

"Upon being nominated as the presidential candidate, I came to Medamulana after paying homage to the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya, the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura and the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy with the blessings of the Malwathu and Asgiriya Chapters. I came before my parents' monument today upon receiving their blessings.

I came today to seek the blessings of the Most Venerable Theros and You who live in this place. Fifty years ago, in our political history, which was about eighty years old, all of you appointed Mahinda Rajapaksa, as the youngest MP in Parliament and took him up to the President of this country. I came before you expecting the same blessing and support of you as you had blessed him at that time. My thanks to all who came for me to this place today," Gotabaya said. 

Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, Chamal Rajapaksa and MPs representing the joint opposition were present at the occasion.
