Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith says that the rulers of the country are responsible for the Easter Sunday attacks, not the Muslim community. Rulers are acting according to foreign forces’ wishes, and this attack can be identified as a part of a plot to destabilize the country, he alleged.

Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith made this statement yesterday (21) at the reopening ceremony of the St. Sebastian Church, Katuwapitiya, three months after the Easter Sunday attacks.

Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith went on to state that rulers of the country are also involved in the international conspiracy aimed at destabilizing the country, and that the attacks took place because the present government weakened intelligence agencies which used to be strong.

Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith further said: “Rulers of the country are responsible for this attack, not the Muslim community. They act according to foreign forces’ wishes. Intelligence agencies were weakened, and the country’s security was compromised, in order to please foreign forces and foreign organizations. Rulers didn’t take action to avert the Easter attack although they received relevant information in advance. As a result, hundreds of people lost their lives.

These politicians must go home at least now. They must hand over the country to someone who can actually rule it.”
