Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says existing laws are insufficient to prevent terrorism.

It’s impossible to face Muslim terrorism the same way we faced the LTTE terrorists, and laws must be reformed with time, he added.

First of all, Sri Lanka needs new laws and the best example is England, the Prime Minister stressed, adding that between 2001 and 2019, England’s laws pertaining to terrorism were amended 15 times.

The intelligence services must also be restructured, the Prime Minister opined.
