Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa claims President Maithripala Sirisena dissolved Parliament when the report of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) regarding the Central Bank bond scam was scheduled to be presented to Parliament.
“The COPE report was scheduled to be presented; but the President, on the day the report was to be released, dissolved Parliament in a bid to protect the masterminds behind the bond scam,” the Opposition Leader alleged.
“Parliament was dissolved when the COPE report about the culprits and masterminds of the bond scam was to be released. The dissolution of Parliament concealed a lot of things,” he added.
The Opposition Leader made this statement yesterday (10) while addressing an event held at the BMICH to mark D.E.W. Gunasekara’s 60th anniversary in politics.
