MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, testifying before the Parliament Select Committee, said his recent statement regarding the unexploded bomb at Taj Samudra was made without definite information. He had made the statement in question during a television program.
He added that he, too, wants to know the truth about this matter, and the Parliament Select Committee must launch a broad investigation into it.
He said, “It was frequently reported that ISIS has a certain influence on South Asia. But I don’t think anyone knew there was a suicide bombing situation. Even our intelligence units didn’t think it could be a suicide bombing attack. That’s why everyone is telling there was no way to make an arrest.
ISIS usually issues a statement after an attack without a delay. That’s why I said this happens due to some other force. Radicalization of Muslim community has become normal. We must, as the government, take measures to save them. If there’s no deradicalization process in Sri Lanka, we will have to face a huge crisis in the future.”
