The report on the private university in Batticaloa is scheduled to be presented to the Cabinet tomorrow (25). The report contains recommendations and conclusions of the Sectorial Oversight Committee on Education and Human Resources, which launched an initial investigation into the controversial university.
The report was presented to Parliament on 21st June by Chairman of the Sectorial Oversight Committee on Education and Human Resources, MP Ashu Marasinghe.
Presenting the report, he stated that there are problems with regard to the establishment of the university, and they must be investigated.
The committee unanimously recommended that the government take over the controversial university under provisions of emergency regulations until investigations are completed.
The report further recommended that all properties of the university in question be maintained under the Eastern University.
