Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa says 19th Amendment to the Constitution cannot be removed at this juncture and therefore should refrain from discussing things that aren’t going to happen.
An election is scheduled to be held soon and there is no adequate time to amend the Constitution, he added.
He opined that this is not the time for experiments.
To change the Constitution, two-thirds parliamentary majority is required, he added.
He went on to say although it’s too late, it’s good that the President has understood issues pertaining to the 19th Amendment.
