Media barred from learning certain testimonies at Select Committee

According to Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ananda Kumarasiri, the media will be barred from learning content of the testimonials made by several witnesses at the Special Parliament Select Committee appointed to probe the Easter attack. 

Therefore, the identity of certain witnesses will be kept confidential. 

The decision was made at the meeting held at the Special Select Committee yesterday (19).

According to reports, the committee members had discussed on concluding its finals before the end of July.

Testimonials are expected from several other witnesses, whom will be listed down to be summoned before the Select Committee, reports further said. 

The Deputy Speaker added that representatives of several Muslim organizations, including Abdul Razik of Ceylon Thowheed Jama’ath will give evidence before the Parliament Select Committee today (20).
