Former Western Province Governor Azath Salley says Gotabaya Rajapaksa, when he served as the Defense Secretary, had close ties with Sri Lanka Thawheed Jamaath.
At that time, it was Gotabaya Rajapaksa who used this organization most, he alleged.
Former Western Province Governor further said intelligence unit officials asked him to accept a bribe of Rs 500 million and leave the country. He also said he did not accept the money.
He went on to state that he was arrested at that time because he held press briefings and revealed information about the Thawheed Jamaath organization.
