Certain personnel in the Ministry of Agriculture have not studied organic farming and some of the officials are clearly dependent of agro-chemical companies, Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya, Chief of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA), alleged, speaking to a press briefing held in the Department of Government Information yesterday (09).

"Some of the Agriculture Ministry personnel have not studied organic farming. They do not know about it. The world has developed along with it. Today, there is technology to develop organic farming by fixing the level of nitrogen. Therefore, our country need the technology used by those studied western organic farming. We have to be humble in obtaining that technology. Some of the officials in the Agriculture Ministry neither studied it, nor wish to learn from someone who did.
