Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekara speaking at a special press conference held in the Mass Media Ministry yesterday (06) stated that it is not certain whether Sarah Jasmine alias Pulasthini Mahendran, the wife of Hasthun who carried out the suicide bombing at the Katuwapitiya Church, is still alive and that the bodies of those died by the attack in Sainthamaruthu residence will be exhumed and examined.

"We are not certain whether this Sarah is dead. Beccause this was not confirmed through the first DNA test. But... here's the thing. In the first DNA test, Sarah's mother's DNA was compared with the DNA extracted from the body parts. They were not matched. Therefore, they will be exhumed again. Because they were body parts. Not full bodies. You may have seen that there were many children among them. So, we have to check every one of them. This has not happened yet. Therefore, we cannot conclude whether Sarah was dead or not," the Minister said.

Question: A Police officer named Abu Bakhar had aided Sarah in flying away. There was an eyewitness on Sarah named Antony. How about the investigations carried out in this regard?

Answer: "No, these were investigated. But no evidence was received to substantiate the claims. Had Sarah not died, red notices will be sent via INTERPOL. No question about it. Now we deported 50 out of 54 suspects who were arrested overseas."
