Deforestation occurring beyond control in Sri Lanka also takes the form of terrorism, Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa emphasised speaking at the occasion held in launching the Green Party concept of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) yesterday (03).
"The elephant-human conflict exists in the country is tragic. In fact, deforestation occurring beyond control would be taking the form of terrorism, as we view. Deforestation, terrorism that destroys the forests, must be eradicated. We have the capacity to make this journey," he said.
Premadasa added: "In the midst of all this, large-scale land grabbing is taking place in the country, especially in the biodiverse hotspots. Be it Sinharaja, Horton Place, Somawathi, Wipattu or Dahaiyagala, we have to come forward to stop this process."
