In the circumstance that the Covid-19 pandemic is being spread across the country out of control, the authorities shall not be hesitating with words to acknowledge the virus's community spread, stated the Public Health Inspectors Association, urging the government to reveal the actual risk to the people and obtain their support in controlling the situation.
The Union made this observation speaking to media yesterday (23).
Union president Upul Rohana said: "These cases represent all 25 districts of the country. Having the data analysed, the health authorities shall not be grappling with words to acknowledge about the community spread, and shall be revealing to the public about the actual risk of Covid-19 being spread across the country without control and obtaining the public's support to prevent it."
He added: "We also urge not to trouble the families of people without symptoms of infection by taking them to treatment centres, and provide them with the necessary facilities for home quarantine and adopt the relevant policy decisions on the way."
