Army Commander’s explanation on yesterday’s Covid-19 death report

Early bulletin claimed that 09 Covid-19 related deaths were reported in Sri Lanka yesterday (21), marking the highest number of fatalities to be recorded in a day, surging the death toll up to 83.

However, Army Commander Shavendra Silva joining a private television channel this (22) morning revealed that only four Covid-19 related deaths occurred yesterday, while five others had actually occurred in two separate dates eariler.

Accordingly, one death occurred in November 19 was discovered to have been associated with the virus only yesterday, while four more deaths occurred in November 20 were confirmed for their Covid-status yesterday. 

Only four more deaths occurred yesterday have been associated with the virus, he said.
