Amidst the much controversy raised over the attempted selling of the East Terminal of the Colombo Port to India, Bodu Bala Sena Secretary Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera said that the present government is following the same principle of selling the country's resources, similar to the previous one, whilst praising former President Maithripala Sirisena for having the backbone to stand against the attempted selling of the terminal during the previous governance.

"We ask from the government to either sell the entire port combined without giving away small parts. One government comes and sells one, and another government another. In the end, selling this out is everyone's story.

We know, that during the previous government, an agreement was signed on leasing this East Terminal. Former President Maithripala Sirisena, afterall, had the backbone to listen to that voice and prevent it by direct, or indirect, means, without letting them do it. The present minister put the cabinet paper, how stupid these people are?" the Thera said, speaking to media upon his arrival at the demonstration launched by the ports trade union members on August 01.
