Former Prime Minister UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe says that some in the government will be annoyed if he reveals some facts about the 2015 controversial bond deal.
CID officials met Ranil Wickremesinghe at his residence to record statements on the afternoon of the 03 rd of this month. He says that if they talk about some of the issues raised by them, the people in the government will resent him.
However, Mr. Wickremesinghe says he has no charge against the bond deal and the Attorney General can file a court case if needed.
There is no fraud in the bond transaction, but there is a possibility of an error, he says.
Mr. Wickremesinghe says the main issue was the acquaintance of the then Governor of the Central Bank and the Director of the Perpetual Treasury Company.
Mr. Wickremesinghe made this observation while participating in a discussion with Lanka News Web.
He also expressed his views regarding the withdrawal of Sajith Premadasa from the UNP when an election is being held. Mr. Wickremesinghe says that it is Mr. R. Premadasa who has told him that those who leave the party are fools.
He also said that if those who quit are popular, they should win the last presidential election.
Commenting on the economic upliftment of the economy, Mr. Wickremesinghe says the existing model should be changed. He added that the country should be made self-sufficient and a way to make money for the people.
