A decision has been made to swear leader of Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Udaya MP Udaya Gammanpila and MP Ranjith Soysa in state ministerial portfolios.
Despite their prominent role in Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa's election campaign, neither of them was sworn in a Cabinet, state or deputy ministry in the new caretaker government.
Following the closure of the election, Gammanpila flew to Australia to see his family and Soysa was reportedly sick.
However, neither of them reportedly demanded any ministry from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa or Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, after which the government has decided to swear them in state ministries.
Earlier, MP Gammanpila in a letter had informed the President that he will not be accepting any ministry in the new caretaker government, pointing out the difficulties of swearing in a Cabinet of Ministers.
Nonetheless, the so called difficulties may have been solved by now.
