The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has been nervous and intimidated by the fact that the United National Party (UNP) led New Democratic Front public rallies held for the victory of its presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa are being filled with huge crowd, sources said.
It is reported that the large crowd that attended the rally in Bandarawela town on the night of the day before yesterday (06) as well as the large number of people who attended the rallies in Deniyaya, Akuressa and Habaraduwa yesterday (07) campaigning for Sajith Premadasa have shocked the Pohottu Party.
The SLPP that had successfully carried out the psychological approach in campaigning to intimidate the opponents, especially the people, now has faced back a nerve-threat upon the masses gathered in Sajith Premadasa's rallies.
Although there is no shortage of people for the rallies Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa addresses, when addresses a rally or two in a day, Mr. Sajith Premadasa addresses a doubled-number of rallies in a day, shocking the lower SLPP membership especially given the large number of people covering it, sources further disclosed.
The people attending a rally is not a good criterion for predicting the outcome of the election, but the SLPP had to take the situation seriously, according to sources.
