Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Parliamentarian Bimal Ratnayake has revealed that Mr. Basil Rajapaksa, founder of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) had asked the JVP to give their second preferential votes to the party confronting that no party can get 50% of the votes at the upcoming presidential election.
He made this revelation speaking to a rally held in Kandy on Wednesday (16).
"I may tell of something like a little secret, if you need. Four months ago, Mr. Basil Rajapaksa called one of our leaders and asked if the JVP can cast their second vote for them saying they may have only 44%.
We told him that the JVP members and voters won't be even casting for us, they would cast only for the symbol. So, this may never even happen," he said.
