We earlier reported that a voice tape implying President Maithripala Sirisena verbally harassing a receiver upon rage over the United National Party (UNP) was circulated viral on social media on Sunday (15).

Nonetheless, the incident apparently has gained popularity to the President among the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), sources said.

The majority of the SLPP views that the President has addressed the UNP best way possible, according to sources.

The President's implied telephone harassment has given the best speech over the past four and a half years, some SLPP politicians viewed.

They have also come to view that the President should be pitied for the way he was treated by the UNP over the years, sources claimed.

Accordingly, the President has addressed the hearts of the SLPP supporters the best way possible, SLPP political analysts pointed out.

One of the main obstacles to the formation of the alliance between the SLFP and the SLPP was the displeasure of the President at the grassroots level. They felt a sense of hatred towards him as the man who had snatched the 2015 victory from them.

However, the leaked phone call implied to have committed by the President was much pleased and appreciated by the SLPP supporters, claiming that he is very suitable for the SLPP afterall, according to sources.
