DR. Sivaruban, judicial medical officer of Palei Hospital of Kilinochchi, was seized by army intelligence units on August 18, in alleged connections to plotting murder of Gotabaya Rajapaksa and MP Douglas Devananda, and reawakening the LTTE, reports said.

The medical officer is being detained in the Jaffna Terrorism Investigation Division under 90-day detaining orders.

It was common during Rajapaksa rule, that any political dropback was justified as an awakening of the LTTEs.

Upon every political vulnerability, they had one song to regain strength - the song of defeating the Tamil Tigers.

Obviously, another strike upon political clash spawned in Gotabaya Rajapaksa's campaigning for presidential polls is being launched under the same song.

Storytelling about plot to kill Gotabaya Rajapaksa was not uncommon in recent political history. One flew across all media during last September. A tale of plotting for murder in which the protagonist, Namal Kumara, a member of Drug Control Force by President, had made a huge drama before the media claimed Gotabaya Rajapaksa and President Maithripala Sirisena were targeted. The events had led to collapsing the government by forming a coup in which Mahinda Rajapaksa was sworn in as Prime Minister.

However, the coup fell after 52 days of governing the country, led to curtains for the murder plot drama as well.

Upon learning the latest attempt to form a murder plot, the army intelligence units acted with vigilance and seized the said judicial medical officer from the Palei Hospital.

This is the same army intelligence unit who had claimed they knew nothing of a potential attack prior to the Easter Sunday bombings. The so called biggest and strongest intelligence unit of the country, who did not have the slightest clue of the events on Easter Sunday all of a sudden seizing a suspect before everyone else is rather interesting.

However, given the legitimate arrest into the said medical officer, the army intelligence units had handed him over to the TID and carried search patrols into a private hospital in Kilinochchi belonging to the said suspect.

Nothing suspicious has been recovered during search, sources said.

They, however, recovered that the said private hospital is conducting services to patients as part of wellfare activity, sources further claimed.

Apparently, amid failure to sustain propaganda for presidential campaign, Gotabaya Rajapaksa is now following the familiar strategy to promote hatred by putting Tamil community as bait.
